This cult cine-essay by Paul Bush is all about a fictional mega-city called on 30 January 2014 to correct the spelling of Paul Bush's name... As a result, it wasn’t until I returned to Spain in my twenties that I really grasped the existence of Spanish science fiction as its own unique entity and proceeded to read original Spanish SF anthologies and novels. Whether or not we choose to see Gibson’s configuration of the frightening feminine matrix as an extension of particular anti-feminist politics in the ’80s, we are still left with the fact that his male heroes play out their mastery within that specific locus of femininity; their very masculinity is constituted by their success both within and against it. "Soft" fantasy has indeed a dangerous appeal, testing as it does the mettle and performance of the would-be masters.

If any genre of science fiction is actually right about the future, it’s probably cyberpunk: rule by corporations, “high tech and low life,” cybernetics, the use of technology in ways its creators never intended, and loners wandering a landscape covered with lenses and screens. The prisoners use this to plan their escape.
